The Festival

On November 29th Bobby’s birthday we will creatively put our memories together, as the first KUMBLA CREATIVE ARTS FESTIVAL.

KUMBLA was the word Bobby choose to his life’s work and energy. It was the space he sought to hold for his family friends and students. It describes the space he kept in the world. It was a safe space, purposefully tended, usually with him in the background magically making things happen.

KUMBLA was the name for his home in Port Maria.

This is the promise of KUMBLA FESTIVAL – The Bobby Clarke Creative Arts Festival. It is a safe space for the full expression and creativity of everyone impacted by his life. The Festival is dedicated to supporting the lives of young Jamaican creatives.

CONTENT

The festival’s content is curated around BOBBY’S life and creative journey. Content can take the form of the Visual and Performing Arts – Dance, Drama, Music

Content is requested that addresses:

  • healing
  • reflection
  • ritual and levity

GOALS

One of the goals of the festival is to provide scholarships and funding for students and creatives, influenced by Bobby’s work and an opportunity to spread his ethos to a wider audience.

If your life has been touched in any way by Bobby, you are invited to participate in whatever way feels natural and spontaneous in the formative planning, production, and success of the first KUMBLA Creative Arts Festival.
